Lenny Kravitz is widely considered one of the coolest rockstars on the planet, but his daughter, Zoë Kravitz, might not share that view. According to the 60-year-old musician, his daughter has never seen him as “cool.”
In an interview with PEOPLE while discussing his upcoming Las Vegas residency, Lenny revealed, “I don’t think she’s ever gotten to that place, and you’re not supposed to.” He added, “She appreciates me for who I am but will always get a good laugh because you are the kid’s father. They’re not going to see you how all those other folks see you. They see everything.”
Zoë, a successful actress, singer, songwriter, and director, has built her own impressive career. She recently co-wrote Taylor Swift’s hit “Lavender Haze.” Despite her accomplishments, Zoë has a playful relationship with her father, even roasting him during his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in March 2024.
In her speech, Zoë began with heartfelt praise, saying, “Since you were so young when I was born, in many ways, we’ve grown up together. We’ve been through a lot. We’ve seen a lot. I’ve seen a lot. I’ve seen you change in the most beautiful ways, I’ve seen the ways you’ve stayed the same in the most important ways. I’ve seen the way you show up and take care of the people you love. I’ve seen your incredible dedication to your art.” Then she humorously added, “But mostly, I’ve seen through your shirts. According to my dad, if it doesn’t expose your nipples, it’s not a shirt.”
Zoë, 36, concluded with a cheeky remark: “Your relationship with the netted shirt is probably your longest one.”
Lenny took the playful jabs in stride, telling The Tonight Show’s Jimmy Fallon that his daughter’s teasing was “quite appropriate.”
Lenny’s focus now shifts to his upcoming Las Vegas residency, “Blue Electric Light Las Vegas” at Park MGM, which will kick off in August with five exclusive shows.
Reflecting on Zoë’s humorous speech nearly 10 months later, Lenny laughed, saying, “It’s wonderful, because I love that perspective that you’ve been a bit of an embarrassment at times!”
