Ree Drummond, the star of The Pioneer Woman on Food Network, took to Instagram on Sunday, January 13, to share a lighthearted moment with her followers. The 56-year-old posted an adorable video of herself feeding cheese to her daughter Alex Drummond Scott’s dog, George, while also babysitting her newborn granddaughter Sofia.
“Babysitting Sofia (and George.),” Ree captioned the post. “There may be no cheese left in the morn.”
The video shows Ree opening her fridge to grab a bag of sliced cheese, accompanied by the popular TikTok song “Cheese Tax.” She quickly pulls out a slice, shuts the fridge, and turns the camera to show George, a golden retriever, waiting eagerly. She then holds the cheese in front of him, and he happily takes a bite.
Ree is adjusting to life as a grandmother after welcoming Sofia, her first grandchild, on December 18. She recently shared her emotions about the experience on The Pioneer Woman website, expressing a desire to live closer to Sofia, who was born to Alex and her husband Mauricio Scott.
“I got to stay in Dallas just long enough to fall hopelessly in love with her,” Ree wrote. “I would be lying if I said I haven’t checked Zillow for houses not only on Alex and Mauricio’s street, but also on their block and actually right across the street from their house.”
Ree and her husband, Ladd Drummond, live in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, about five hours away from Alex and the baby in Texas. In addition to Alex, they share four other children: Paige, Bryce, Jamar, and Todd.
Ree compared her desire to move closer to Sofia to the feeling she gets after a vacation. “It’s sort of like when I return from a vacation in Vail, Colorado, and I start searching for houses to buy in Vail because I just don’t want that vacation feeling to end,” she explained.
Reflecting on the birth of her granddaughter, Ree admitted that her emotions have deepened. “I don’t want my time with Sofia ever to end,” she wrote. “Though neither ‘second home’ scenario is very likely at all, a girl (and a grandmother) can sure dream.”
