Jake Shane recently shared some of the most awkward questions people ask about him online, joking, “At least I’m famous.”
The host of Therapuss, who created his podcast to discuss mental health openly, took to Google to explore the top queries people have about him. Yesterday, he posted four of those questions, leaving fans shocked.
One question asked, “Who is Jake Shane and why is he famous?” Another inquired, “Is Jake Shane actually a therapist?” A third wondered, “Does Jake Shane have a disability?” The fourth question was, “How is Jake Shane related to Sofia Richie?” The 25-year-old shared screenshots of the questions on Instagram, where fans had mixed reactions. One follower wrote, “I’m crying.” Another commented, “No, like they’re obsessed?” A third said, “Jake Shane is an actual therapist (to me).” One fan asked, “Can you be my actual therapist?” and another added, “The therapist comment is taking me out.”
Jake launched his podcast in January 2024, with pop star Charli XCX as his first guest. Since then, he’s welcomed other notable guests, including Reneé Rapp, Glen Powell, Sofia Grainge (Richie), Tate McRae, Joe Jonas, Saweetie, Finneas, and Rosé.
With his rise to fame, however, comes criticism. Jake admitted to The Mirror that he does read negative comments, and they can sometimes affect him. “I do read the comments. I’m really bad at dealing with it,” he shared. “I let it get to me. It sucks, but I wish I had better advice. It really does get to me.” He added that despite trying to avoid them, he often ends up reading them.
Although negativity can get to him, Jake doesn’t shy away from making fun of himself. He explained, “Self-deprecation is the key to life.” He also values the support and positivity from his followers, enjoying the fact that his content brings joy to people. Many fans have commented calling him an “icon” or sharing that he’s their idol.
Despite this praise, Jake humbly said he doesn’t view himself as an icon. “I think if I ever take myself too seriously, then it won’t be fun anymore, and people will sense that. So I don’t think I can ever view myself like that,” he said.
