YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, known as BeerBiceps, is facing criticism following crude remarks made during an appearance on Samay Raina’s show, India’s Got Latent. The comments sparked a heated debate on social media, prompting Allahbadia to apologize for his actions.
“I shouldn’t have said what I said on India’s Got Latent. I’m sorry,” Allahbadia said in the caption of his apology video.
The controversy began after Allahbadia asked a contestant a bizarre and inappropriate question: whether they would rather “watch their parents have sex for the rest of their life or join them once and put a stop to it.” The remark quickly drew backlash online.
However, many users pointed out that the comment was not original. They noted that similar jokes and dark humor have appeared on other YouTube shows that often rely on shock value for views.
The same offensive question had been asked in a video by the OG Crew, a YouTube group, just two weeks earlier. The group, known for creating challenge and vlog videos, posted a “Truth or Drink” video where YouTuber Sammy Walsh asked another participant, Akila, the same question. The show involves asking uncomfortable questions, where participants are encouraged to drink instead of answering.
“Turns out even those disgusting words by Ranveer Allahbadia were stolen from somewhere else,” wrote one X user, sharing a clip from the OG Crew’s video.
In his apology, Allahbadia acknowledged the mistake. “My comment was not just inappropriate, it was not even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I am just here to say sorry. Many of you asked if this is how I wished to use my platform, and obviously, this is not how I wish to use it. I am not going to give any context or justification or reasoning behind whatever happened. I am just here to apologise. I personally had a lapse in judgement. It was not cool on my part,” he said in a one-minute video.
