Khephren Thuram has shared that playing against his brother Marcus in the Juventus vs. Inter match felt “like in the garden at home.” He also joked that their father, Lilian, was “more anxious” than both of them.
Juventus secured a 1-0 win in the Derby d’Italia at home, with Francisco Conceicao scoring the match-winning goal, assisted by Randal Kolo Muani’s brilliant turn. Despite a strong start from Inter, Juve fought back in the second half, marking their fourth consecutive win in all competitions. The victory moved them into joint fourth place in Serie A, alongside Lazio.
“We are happy with the win, especially against a strong Inter team. It boosts our confidence moving forward,” Khephren Thuram told DAZN. He was also asked about his role in the match, as he played more defensively than usual, often required to protect the defense while Teun Koopmeiners and Weston McKennie pushed forward.
“I had more defensive duties tonight, but we are a team and need to know who we’re facing. I had to drop deeper to balance the more attacking players,” he explained.
During the second half, Khephren faced off against his brother Marcus, who came on as a substitute for Inter. Reflecting on the experience, Khephren said, “It was wonderful, like playing in the garden at home. It’s a dream for me to play against him.”
He also noted that Marcus might still be recovering from an ankle injury, as he didn’t start the match.
Their father, Lilian, was in the stands at Allianz Stadium and was visibly nervous, standing for the entire match. Khephren joked, “He was more anxious than we were!”
