Kristen Bell Jokes She’d Bet on a Wicked-Inspired Performance at SAG Awards

Kristen Bell, the host of the 2025 SAG Awards, hinted that a Wicked-inspired performance could be part of the show. Following the success of the film’s recent cast performances, including Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, and Jonathan Bailey, Bell joked about potentially joining in on the fun with a “dancing through life” moment at the event.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Bell, 44, shared her excitement about the impact of Wicked on the upcoming awards ceremony. The movie, which earned five nominations at this year’s SAG Awards, has generated a lot of buzz, and Bell couldn’t help but feel personally invested.

“It’s been hard not to make the whole ceremony about Wicked because it feels like one of the most significant films we’ve made,” Bell said. “I say ‘we’ because even though I wasn’t directly involved, I know some people who were, so I feel connected.”

When asked if a musical number inspired by Wicked would make an appearance during the awards show, Bell teased, “We shall see.” She added with a laugh, “You might want to bet on it. If I were you, I’d put money on it.”

The film has received nominations in five categories at the SAG Awards, including outstanding performance by a female actor in a leading role (Erivo), female actor in a supporting role (Grande), male actor in a supporting role (Bailey), cast in a motion picture, and stunt ensemble in a motion picture.

Bell also revealed that her family is deeply fond of Wicked, with her daughters, Lincoln, 11, and Delta, 10, being especially enthusiastic about the film. “For three of us in our household, it’s the most important thing,” Bell said.

In addition to hosting, Bell is nominated for outstanding performance by a female actor for her role in Netflix’s Nobody Wants This, where she stars alongside Adam Brody, who earned a nod in the male actor category. Bell is competing against Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary), Liza Colón-Zayas (The Bear), Ayo Edebiri (The Bear), and Jean Smart (Hacks).

As for whether her husband, actor Dax Shepard, will attend the ceremony with her, Bell is uncertain. “There’s no way to know,” she said. “He’s his own man, and I support him. But we don’t have many babysitters available, so he often stays home to watch the kids.”

The 31st SAG Awards will stream live on Netflix on Sunday, Feb. 23, at 8 p.m. EST/5 p.m. PST.
