Jenn Tran is brushing off the unexpected delay in production for The Bachelorette.
After news broke that season 22 of the popular The Bachelor spinoff wouldn’t air this summer, Tran, the show’s latest lead, shared her thoughts in a lighthearted response. Speaking to PEOPLE at the Cape Radiance Gala red carpet in Los Angeles on March 24, the 27-year-old joked, “I don’t know anything about that. Long live Jenn Tran as the last Bachelorette. I’d love that.”
Tran, who starred in season 21 of The Bachelorette, was attending the gala with her former Dancing with the Stars partner, Sasha Farber, amid their still-evolving relationship.
Earlier, Tran had expressed her surprise over the show’s hiatus. “It was a surprise to me,” she told PEOPLE. “The franchise has been going on for so long. Sometimes you hear things like why [shows go on pause]. I have no idea why and what’s going on there. I really have no idea.”
She also offered a theory on why the show might have been delayed. “The Bachelorette usually airs in the summer when people are traveling. I heard it doesn’t do as well as The Bachelor, which airs in the fall when people are home and ready to watch TV,” Tran explained. “So maybe it’ll give the next Bachelorette a chance to air at a time with more visibility. That would be nice.”
During her red carpet appearance, Tran also addressed the recent viral Instagram video of her and Farber performing a choreographed dance to Sabrina Carpenter’s “15 Minutes.” “I’m still learning how to dance. I’m getting my bang for my buck,” she said.
When asked if dance lessons are mandatory when spending time with Farber, Tran responded, “Yes, absolutely, right, honey? Right?” Farber playfully agreed, adding, “I love to teach her to dance.”
“He’s my landlord, he’s my social media person. He’s everything,” Tran added with a laugh.
