Roma secured a late 1-0 victory over Lecce yesterday, extending their strong form in 2025. Claudio Ranieri appeared frustrated as his team squandered numerous opportunities before Artem Dovbyk scored the winning goal with just ten minutes remaining. The goal earned Roma their third win in the last four matches against Lecce.
Dovbyk’s 11th Serie A goal of the season was enough to secure all three points in Apulia, marking Roma’s seventh consecutive league win. This keeps them within four points of fourth-place Bologna, with just eight rounds left in the season.
Despite the win, Roma struggled with finishing, as they only converted one of their 17 shots on target past Lecce goalkeeper Wladimiro Falcone.
“I told the players, we must finish the season without regrets,” Ranieri said in an interview with Sky Sport Italia. “We need to give everything, never give up on any ball. With only eight matches left, they will all be tough, just like today. After that, we’ll accept the results and see where we stand.”
Ranieri also shared a lighthearted moment after the match, saying, “I went into the locker room and told the lads, how dare you, you’re trying to give me an early heart attack! I’m lucky I’ve had all the cardiac tests,” he laughed.
Next up for Roma is a home match against Juventus, where they’ll need to be more clinical to extend their winning streak to eight games.
