Tiger Woods may be dealing with another injury, but that didn’t stop him from having some fun on April Fools’ Day.
The golf legend took to social media on Tuesday morning, shortly after publicly revealing his relationship with Vanessa Trump, to make an announcement about his recovery from a ruptured Achilles tendon that seemed too good to be true.
“I can’t believe I am saying this, but a few weeks after rupturing my left Achilles, the sleeping in a hyperbaric chamber plus the explosive lifts my doctors and trainers have me ready to play the Masters next week!” Woods wrote on his X account. “Can’t wait! See y’all on the course.”
However, just three minutes later, Woods followed up with another post — revealing the joke.
“P.S. April Fools, my Achilles is still a mess,” he added.
Woods, 49, had previously shared that he suffered the Achilles injury while increasing his training before golf’s first major of the year. He underwent surgery to repair the ruptured tendon, adding to the series of injuries that have kept him away from professional golf in recent years.
Last September, Woods had been trying to recover from microdecompression surgery on his lumbar spine to relieve nerve impingement and the pain he had been experiencing. His much-anticipated 2025 season debut at The Genesis Invitational was further delayed due to the sudden death of his mother in February.
The 15-time major winner has not played in a professional golf event since The Open Championship last July. He did, however, play alongside his son, Charlie, at the PNC Championship in December and competed during TGL’s inaugural season with Jupiter Links GC.
Woods played in only five PGA Tour events last season, including a withdrawal after the first round of the 2024 Genesis Invitational due to illness. He made the cut at the Masters, finishing in 60th place. It remains unclear when he will return to the PGA Tour following his latest injury.
