JD Vance jokes about choosing between attending his inauguration or watching Ohio State play in the national championship game
JD Vance is considering his options for January 20. Should he attend his inauguration to be sworn in as vice president, or watch his alma mater, the Ohio State Buckeyes, compete in the College Football Playoff National Championship in Atlanta?
“Hopefully everyone is cool with me skipping the inauguration so I can go to the national title game,” Vance humorously posted on social media Friday night after the Buckeyes defeated Texas in the CFP semifinals.
The Vice President-elect, who is from Ohio and graduated from Ohio State, was obviously joking. It’s highly likely he will attend the inauguration in Washington D.C. and participate in the day’s events. Nevertheless, his post sparked significant attention online, amassing hundreds of thousands of reactions and over 13 million views as of Sunday afternoon.
Vance is scheduled to be officially sworn into office on Monday, January 20, followed by President-elect Donald Trump. The ceremony will take place at noon at the U.S. Capitol. Later that evening, the Buckeyes will face Notre Dame at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Ohio State is aiming to win its first national title since 2014, while Notre Dame is seeking its first championship since 1988. The game will kick off at 7:30 p.m.
