Khloe Kardashian’s recent criticism of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has sparked backlash.
The reality star faced a wave of criticism after calling Mayor Bass “a joke” in a social media post. The comment came in response to alleged budget cuts to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) amid ongoing wildfires.
Kardashian, 40, shared a video on her Instagram Stories from a segment on Fox 11 LA. In the clip, LAFD Fire Chief Kristin Crowley spoke about how budget cuts have impacted firefighting efforts across Southern California. Crowley said, “My message is the fire department needs to be properly funded – it’s not.”
In the caption, the Calabasas resident voiced her support for Chief Crowley, writing, “I stand with YOU Chief Crowley!!!! You spoke the truth and you had tears in your eyes because I can tell you didn’t want to say that but it was THE TRUTH!!!! Mayor Bass you are a joke!!!!”
