JD Vance Jokes About Skipping Inauguration for CFP Game

by Diana Ward

Monday promises to be a significant day for JD Vance, as he prepares to witness the culmination of months of hard work by his team, reaching the peak of its field.

But that’s not all. He will also be sworn in as Vice President. Vance, a Middletown native and Ohio State University graduate, took to social media after the Buckeyes’ Cotton Bowl win over Texas to joke about how he plans to spend next Monday. The date is both Inauguration Day and the day of the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, where Ohio State will face Notre Dame.

“Hopefully everyone is cool with me skipping the inauguration so I can go to the national title game,” Vance wrote on X, followed by a cartoon.

On the same day, the Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee released the official schedule for inauguration weekend, which includes 13 events on Inauguration Day in Washington, D.C. The day will be packed, with official events such as the swearing-in ceremony, a parade, and three inaugural balls.

The national championship game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. Monday from Atlanta.
