During a recent podcast, he was asked who the most versatile athlete in sports was. Unsurprisingly, Hunter named himself, confidently listing the sports he believes he could excel in. Among them, he joked about his ability to play Major League Baseball.
“If y’all don’t know, I can play a lot of sports,” Hunter said (29:32 mark). “But you would never know because I only play football. But I could play basketball too. I can run track. I could do long jump, high jump. I could do the mile. The 400m. I could play baseball if I felt like it. I ain’t gonna lie, baseball makes a lot of money, so I might make the transition soon, be like Coach Prime, Deion Sanders, and get my millions there while I get my millions in the NFL. I could be a good outfielder. Steal bases. I might not be able to hit for nothing, but I can learn that.”
Hunter also mentioned volleyball, fishing, swimming, gymnastics, golf, and soccer (as a goalie) as other sports where he believes he could perform at a high level.
After an impressive season that included a Heisman Trophy and multiple awards as a dynamic wide receiver and cornerback, it’s easy to see why Hunter feels his versatility could transfer to other sports. However, given his future as a likely top-five NFL draft pick, it’s probably best for him to focus on football for now.
