Comedian Pranit More ‘Attacked’ Over Jokes On Veer Pahariya; Actor Responds

by Diana Ward

Comedian Pranit More was reportedly assaulted by a group of men claiming to be fans of Bollywood debutant Veer Pahariya, according to a statement from the comedian’s team posted on social media. The incident, which left More injured, occurred in Solapur, Maharashtra, after his stand-up performance at 24K Kraft Brewzz on February 2.

More’s team explained that, after the show, he stayed to meet fans and take selfies, as he usually does. A group of 11-12 individuals approached him, appearing to want photos. However, instead of taking pictures, the men allegedly attacked him, punching and kicking him.

The team identified the leader of the group as Tanveer Shaikh, who, along with his associates, reportedly targeted More due to jokes he made about Veer Pahariya. One of the attackers allegedly threatened More, saying, “Agli Baar Veer Pahariya baba pe joke maarke dikha!” (Next time, try joking about Veer Pahariya and see what happens).

The team also claimed that the venue, 24K Kraft Brewzz, lacked security, and despite requests for CCTV footage, the management refused to provide it. The comedian further alleged that despite contacting the police, no assistance arrived at the scene. More’s team shared their frustration on Instagram, saying, “The leader of this attack was Tanveer Shaikh, and his gang made it clear why they were doing this—they wanted to silence Pranit for joking about Veer Pahariya. One of them even threatened him, warning of worse consequences if he joked again. What’s more shocking is that the venue had no security.”

In response, Veer Pahariya, who recently debuted in the Akshay Kumar-starrer Sky Force, issued a statement clarifying his lack of involvement and condemning the attack. He expressed his shock and sadness, writing on Instagram:

“I am truly shocked and saddened by what happened to Comedian Pranit More. I want to make it absolutely clear—I had no involvement in this, and I strongly condemn any form of violence. As someone who has always taken trolling in stride, laughed along with it, and shown love even to my critics, I would never encourage or support harm towards anyone, let alone someone from the same creative fraternity.”

Pahariya also extended his apologies to More and his fans, adding, “No one deserves this. I will personally ensure that whoever was responsible is held accountable.”
