WWE Champion Cody Rhodes reportedly downplayed rumors that rapper Travis Scott injured him with a stiff slap during the closing segment of the Elimination Chamber event on March 1. However, the slap and the visible damage to Rhodes’ face, seen during his appearance on SmackDown last Friday, tell a different story.
There have been whispers about some backstage tension over Scott’s mistake, but WWE seems committed to keeping the rapper involved in the WrestleMania 41 storyline between Cody Rhodes and the newly turned heel John Cena. Despite any potential locker room frustration with Scott, Jey Uso showed no signs of concern when the incident was brought up during a recent interview with Peter Rosenberg on the “Cheap Heat” podcast.
Rosenberg, after discussing Jey Uso’s entrance with Scott on Raw’s Netflix premiere, jokingly asked the 2025 Royal Rumble winner, “Why’d Travis Scott hit Cody in the face like that, bro?”
Uso grinned and responded, “Man, somebody ain’t tell him how to work-slap him? Yo man, he probably too damn lit. I don’t know.”
It’s unclear whether Uso meant “lit” as in Scott was hyped up or intoxicated, but given Uso’s likely participation in the same environment as Scott during their Netflix premiere, it’s safe to assume he was referring to the latter. Regardless, Jey seemed to be having fun with the situation.
When Rosenberg then asked if Uso would have been upset if Scott had slapped him the same way, or if he would have brushed it off as “good business,” Uso laughed and said, “If he would have slapped me like that? Oh hell nah. I probably would’ve looked up, uce [mimes shielding his face, looking up with a scowl and shaking his head, and then shielding his face again]… ‘This dude just hit me like Sheamus.’”
While it’s unclear how the rest of the WWE locker room feels about Scott’s mistake, Jey Uso appears to be taking it all in stride.
