Jack Schlossberg, the 32-year-old grandson of John F. Kennedy, is once again stirring up attention on social media. This time, he posted a tongue-in-cheek announcement claiming he is expecting a baby with Usha Vance, the wife of J.D. Vance.
On Sunday, April 6, Schlossberg shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), writing that he was “having a son” and expressing his excitement. He humorously added that although the baby is “out of wedlock,” he and Usha “might get married.”
Shortly after, Schlossberg posted a photo on Instagram featuring his face superimposed onto an image of Usha holding a child. The caption read, “Little Jason and his mom — You never feel like you’re ready to be a parent. Until one day, you become one.”
Schlossberg’s representative did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
Known for his playful approach to social media, Schlossberg has previously acknowledged that he often posts exaggerated or fictional content to comment on the current state of news and media. In a past interview on MSNBC’s podcast The Blueprint with Jen Psaki, he explained that breaking through the noise of the internet requires saying something unexpected or controversial. He believes that this tactic has been used effectively by some political figures.
Schlossberg also admitted to previously lying to his followers about a breakup, saying he found it amusing when people took the post seriously. “I thought it was one of the funniest things I’ve ever done,” he said. “If I was actually going through a breakup, I don’t think I would want anyone to know how sad I was.”
He concluded by emphasizing his passion for politics and his desire to see the Democratic Party adopt new strategies to engage the public.
