Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua recently revealed that he plans to retire from professional football at age 30. He also shared what he might do after his NFL career ends.
While speaking on Julian Edelman’s Games With Names podcast, Nacua talked about playing basketball overseas. However, it appeared he was joking.
“I want to go play overseas basketball,” Nacua said. “I’m sure I could go to a country that only 25 percent of the world has heard of, get ownership in the team, and take 25 shots a game. I’ll be the coach, I’ll sub myself in and out, and I’ll make sure we’re selling tickets. I want to run it like a real business.”
The tone of the conversation and Nacua’s delivery suggested he wasn’t serious. Viewers can watch the interview and judge for themselves, but his comments seemed lighthearted.
Still, his statement about retiring at 30 may not be a joke. Whether he will feel the same way as that age gets closer is uncertain.
