Justin Bieber shared a lighthearted joke on Instagram about his friend Stevie Wonder’s blindness. On April 10, the 31-year-old pop star posted a screenshot of a FaceTime call, showing himself smiling while waiting for Wonder, 74, to pick up. Bieber humorously captioned the photo, “This fool never sees my facetimessss,” referencing Wonder’s lifelong blindness. He accompanied the post with Wonder’s song “Overjoyed.”
Wonder, a 25-time Grammy winner, has often spoken about his experience with blindness. In a 2024 interview on The Wonder of Stevie podcast, he discussed his early childhood, explaining that he was born blind. Wonder shared how his mother cried every night, but he told her, “Mama, you shouldn’t cry, you’re making my head hurt,” later adding, “Maybe God has something for me that’s bigger than all this.” History, he noted, proved this to be true.
Bieber and Wonder have performed together in the past, notably in 2011 when they sang “Someday at Christmas” at a charity show and “The Christmas Song” on The X Factor.
Just before posting his playful FaceTime joke, Bieber also used Instagram to invite musicians to collaborate, saying, “Dm me if u wanna make music together.” Several fans responded, along with artists like Drake, who commented, “I DM’d but no reply.” Bieber did not directly respond to Drake or other musicians who commented, such as Big Sean, Kehlani, Jaden Smith, and Bailey Zimmerman.
Bieber has been teasing new music recently, following his 2021 album Justice.
