Batik Air Passenger Removed After Making Bomb Joke

by Diana Ward

A female passenger was removed from a Batik Air flight and banned from flying after making a bomb threat on April 15, 2025. The incident occurred before the departure of Flight ID-6272 from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) in Tangerang, heading to Sam Ratulangi International Airport in Manado.

Danang Mandala Prihantoro, Batik Air’s Corporate Communications Strategic, confirmed that the passenger, identified as FA, was seated in 11E when she told a flight attendant she had a bomb. This occurred while the aircraft was still preparing for departure. The cabin crew immediately reported the threat to the captain and aviation security.

Following standard safety procedures, the airline decided to remove the passenger from the flight. Authorities at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, including the Civil Aviation Authority and the airport police, took over the case. After additional security checks, the flight proceeded to its destination. No explosives or suspicious items were found.

Danang emphasized that bomb threats, whether serious or as jokes, are strictly prohibited in airports and on airplanes. Such actions are regulated under Law Number 1 of 2009 concerning Aviation, which forbids providing false information that endangers flight safety. Violators could face up to one year in prison, or up to eight years if the threat disrupts flight operations.

Batik Air remains committed to maintaining safety and security for all passengers, and Danang urged all travelers to comply with the regulations, ensuring a safe and comfortable journey.
