As the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) enters Phase Six, the pressure to keep secrets is greater than ever, both on-screen and behind the scenes.
With only a year remaining until Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on May 1, 2026, MCU stars Wyatt Russell and David Harbour have opened up about the intense measures they take to avoid spoilers while promoting Thunderbolts.
Russell, who reprises his role as John Walker/US Agent in Thunderbolts, shared his experience during media training. He jokingly explained, “Media training for Doomsday is like they hold a knife to your neck and say, ‘You say anything, and it’s over.'” The film is set to premiere on May 2.
Harbour, returning as Alexei Shostakov, added, “It’s the most terrifying stunt imaginable. You do interviews where they ask, ‘So we hear you’re in Doomsday?’ and you’re just strapped in and ready.”
Although Thunderbolts director Jake Schreier isn’t directly involved with Doomsday, he didn’t face the same level of pressure. He noted, “I feel like I never got taken into the back room and really given the talk. Maybe they know it’s out in the world now, and you just learn not to reveal anything.”
As of last month, the cast of Avengers: Doomsday includes many stars from Thunderbolts and The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which premieres July 25. The list also features Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Tenoch Huerta (Namor), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Letitia Wright (Black Panther), Kelsey Grammer (Beast), Danny Ramirez (Joaquín Torres/Falcon), Winston Duke (M’Baku), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier/Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), James Marsden (Cyclops), and Channing Tatum (Gambit).
In addition, Robert Downey Jr. is set to return as Victor Von Doom, and Chris Evans will reprise a role that remains shrouded in mystery.
