Joshua Jackson, now a major Hollywood star, continues to attract attention with his new series Doctor Odyssey. However, his career first took off with the beloved teen drama Dawson’s Creek, where he played Pacey Witter — a witty teenager more interested in joking around than excelling at school. On the show, Pacey struggled with a difficult home life, faced harsh criticism from his parents, but found love with Joey Potter, played by Katie Holmes. Over the years, fans have remained loyal to Pacey and Joey’s relationship.
In a recent interview, Jackson shared an update on his current relationship with his Dawson’s Creek co-stars. Speaking on the Dinner’s on Me podcast, hosted by Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Jackson revealed that the cast recently reunited in support of James Van Der Beek. Although they may not speak frequently, Jackson said the bond between them remains strong.
“Whether we talk to each other all the time — Busy [Philipps] and Michelle [Williams] are very, very close. Katie [Holmes] and I are very close,” Jackson said. “It’s not a daily call, and sometimes it’s not weekly, monthly, or even half-yearly. But when we are together, the connection is always there.”
Jackson reflected on the deep bonds formed among the cast, explaining that few relationships in life compare to the ones built while working closely on a life-changing project. “There are major moments in life — other than with your husband — where you forge connections that are unbreakable,” he said. “You go through good times, bad times, love, fights, and everything in between.”
James Van Der Beek, who played the show’s title character Dawson Leery, later became a television fixture, even playing a fictionalized version of himself in Don’t Trust the B— in Apartment 23. Recently, Van Der Beek revealed he was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer.
During the podcast, Jackson shared that the women of Dawson’s Creek organized a reunion to support Van Der Beek. “James is going through something really truly terrible right now,” Jackson said. “I wish I could take credit for the reunion, but honestly, I was the absentee partner. The girls got together and said, ‘We need to do something to help him.'”
